“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3).
The Bible is God’s Word, it is absolute truth! I stand on the inspired (God breathed), infallible, inerrant, and absolutely true Word of God. “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth” (John 17:17). “Every word of God proves true” (Proverbs 30:5-NLT).
So when Jesus says, “I will come again” you can take to the bank! It will happen!
Jesus also says:
“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works” (Matthew 16:27).
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory” (Matthew 25:31).
Even though time has spread over 2000 years between our time and His first coming, it is absolutely true, he will come again. And by the looks of our present world conditions, it won’t be long.

The time is short, we are coming to a new age on earth. We are looking for the glorious return of Jesus Christ to earth, a second Christmas, but this time there will be lowly stable, no swaddling clothes, no poor parents, no babe in a manger, this time it’s going to be different,
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).
“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have die, will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18-NLT).
We refer to this as the rapture of the church. The word “rapture” does not occur in the Bible. The term comes from a Latin word “rapturo,“ meaning a carrying off, a transport, or a snatching away. In our Bible, the same Greek word, harpazo, is translated “caught up” which means “to seize upon with force” or “to snatch up.” At the rapture, those who are in Christ (dead and living) will be changed into new glorified, immortal bodies and then we are “caught up” into the air to meet the Lord.
There are nearly five-hundred prophecies in God’s Word about the second coming of Jesus Christ. One in every thirty verses in the New Testament describe Jesus’ Second Coming (Three-hundred-nineteen references in the two-hundred sixteen chapters of the New Testament). Paul writes about Jesus’ coming fifty times. More than one half of the Old Testament references to Christ refer to His second coming.
So I have the confirmation of God’s Word that Jesus is coming to earth again! If we only had one passage to prove His coming, we would still have to believe. That one passage is John 14:3, where Jesus Himself said, “I will come again.”
This is a very personal message! I have been looking for Jesus’ second coming ever since I became a Christian in 1958. Every year I think this will be the year. Many days, I awaken and say, “Perhaps today!” Every time I find myself frustrated with life, I say, “Even so come Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20). We are admonished by God’s Word, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).
Why do I want Jesus to come back again?
I. I want Jesus to come so Satan will get what he deserves.
I’m tired of the way he’s been running this world. He is the “god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). We can’t wait to get to heaven! The beauty, the joy, and the reunions will be incredible. But Satan was already there and it was not good enough for him. He was with God in the beginning, one of God’s bright angels Isaiah 14:12, identifies him as the “Son of the morning!” Ezekiel 28:12, “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God…”
He was with God but he wanted more, Isaiah14:13,14, “For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’”
Satan infiltrated this world and messed it all up! His fallen angels (demons) still infiltrate our society, weakening the nations. He has brought pain, sickness, death, disease, and murder, “He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies’ (John 8:44).
I’m tired of burying people. Every death can be traced to his temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. I’m tired of having to stand with parents as they lay their precious children in the grave, My mom buried five children, she said, “It gets harder with each one.” I’m tired of grieving with families over the death of a parent. I’m tired of seeing the elderly suffer.
I am just very tired of this old world that is so unkind to God’s children, attacking them for the truth they bear! He is the one who is responsible for counterfeiting the truth. He has attacked all that Christians stand for, he has slandered us, puts doubts in our minds, he persecutes, tempts, divides, slanders, and he accuses us, and the people of the world are held in his power. “Your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
I’ve seen enough bad news on television: rape, murder, carjacking, hit and run drivers, robbery, wife and child abuse, and pedophiles. I’m ready for some “good news,” that’s what the word “Gospel” means! The only good news this world needs is found in 1 Corinthians 15:1-3,4, “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
I’m anxious for Jesus to come and wrest this world away from Satan. “The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:4-KJV).
There is a place that God prepared for Satan and his angels. “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). He doesn’t want to go there so he’s trying to take as many people with him as he can.
I’m anxious for Jesus to come so Satan gets what’s coming to him!
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10).
II. I want Jesus to come so He will get what He deserves.
When Jesus was here on earth He was never treated as He should have been.
“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him” (John 1:10).
“For even His brothers did not believe in Him” (John 7:5). “The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil” (John 7:7).
He owned no real estate, “And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head” (Matthew 8:20).
He was buried in a borrowed tomb (Mark 15:43). He had only one garment (Mark 27:35).
He was betrayed by a disciple who swore he would never do that, “Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them” (Mark 14:10).
Where were His disciples when He was going through His trauma? There was a cloud of dust on the road leading out of Jerusalem as they ran frightened, fearing the same thing would happen to them! Only John stood by Him.
The world mocked Him, spit on Him, scourged Him, jammed a crown of thorns down upon His head, plucked out His beard, beat Him mercilessly, and finally crucified Him. Our word “excruciating” means “out of the cross.” He suffered tremendous pain, indignation and humiliation, and for what? For us! “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures!” (1 Corinthians 15:3).
I want Jesus to come back because next time it’s going to be different!
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever” (Isaiah 9:6,7).
“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears; but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, and faithfulness the belt of His waist” (Isaiah 11:1-5).
“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end” (Luke 1:31-33).
“And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15).
Now see Him in all His majesty and power:
“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God (John 1:1,2). And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp[ sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” -That’s my Jesus and He is coming soon!
II. I want Jesus to come back again so I can see the world the way God intended it to be when He created it.
Now I know that there will be seven years of tribulation on the earth, (after the rapture of His church) after which the Lord will set up His kingdom on earth! This kingdom age will last for one-thousand years. Peace and prosperity will prevail.
After each act of creation in Genesis, God said, “That’s good.” Then in Genesis 3, the fall occurred and it was not good! The earth was changed from a beautiful garden to, “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you” (Genesis 3:17,18).
The earth is waiting for the coming of Christ. “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope” (Romans 8:18,19).
During this one-thousand year reign of Christ on earth, the Kingdom age, Jesus will take Satan, bind him with chains and throw him into the bottomless pit, and set a seal on him. (Revelation 20:1–3).
The polluted earth will be cleansed after thousands of years of war and destruction. The air will be pure, food will be without destructive elements, or additives, and water will be uncontaminated.
“For the Lord will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody” (Isaiah 51:3).
It will be a productive time where men will provide and enjoy their work.
“They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands” (Isaiah 65:21,22).
There will be no conflict in the animal kingdom:
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:6-9).
There will be no hunger:
“Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things! Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field; for the open pastures are springing up, and the tree bears its fruit; the fig tree and the vine yield their strength. Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you—The former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil…You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame. Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel; I am the Lord your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame” (Joel 2:21-26).
There will be health:
“In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness” (Isaiah 29:18).
“Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing” (Isaiah 35:6).
There will be long life:
“No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old” (Isaiah 65:20).
Just imagine a world where righteousness and justice reigns, godliness rules and holiness dominates. A world where everything is absolutely right, and fair, with total joy and lasting peace.
Just use your sanctified imagination for a moment: You are on a train traveling through America during this Kingdom age. As you move from city to city you notice some amazing things. Your tour guide is pointing out landmarks for you. Then you say, “Where are the jails and prisons?” And he responds, “There are no jails and prisons because the King is reigning in Zion!” “Where are the graveyards, I have not seen one?” His response, “There are no graveyards, because there is no death, because the King is reining in Zion!” As you journey on you continue to ask about, mental institutions, police stations, orphanages, military bases, and his response is always the same, “The earth is changed because the King is reigning in Zion!”
I could say, “I want Jesus to come back because I don’t want what I deserve.” I deserve His wrath, and ultimately hell because of my sin, but He died and rose again so that I will not get what I deserve.
I do have a sadness about His coming because there are loved-ones who are going to be left behind if I do not reach them now. After Jesus comes again they will not have another chance!
But let me finally say, “I want Jesus to come back so I can go to be with Him.” Like the old preacher John Jasper, when he was asked, “Who do you want to see first when you get to heaven?” Do you want to see Ezekiel?” “Oh, yes. I want to ask him about that ‘wheel in the middle of a wheel,’ But not just yet.” They went on asking him about Paul, Gideon, Peter and several other Bible people, but his answer was, “not just yet!” “Well. Who do you want to see John Jasper?” “First of all I want to see my Jesus!”
That would be my first choice! I want to touch the hands that knocked off my shackles and set me free. I want to hear the voice that pronounced my deliverance. I want to thank Him for His sacrifice. I just want to love Him without self and flesh getting in the way.
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).
